now im on assignment photographing down south
the laws of gravity are more exaggerated in new orleans
invented by mystics its now home to mardi gras & the late
tennessee willams
you can almost hear zydeco & jazz
(both of which were born somewhere in the BIG EASY)
walking the streets of the french quarter
during daylight hours it's a different feeling
at night you can legally navigate the narrow streets with a beer in
your fist
the decadence is hidden behind frail lace curtains on the second
& third floors
hidden to us tourists down on ground level
but well protected against the millennium & Y2K
but if you stand real still you can just feel the shadow of a
jaundiced glare
peering at the nape of your neck
eyes belonging to the ancestors of the voodoo
the feeling is comforting because its been there for generations
& need be
New
Orleans
